Johannesburg was a beautiful place..

Until December 15, 2010..
there was a flood in Johannesburg.

"Stand unshod upon it, for the ground is holy, being even as it came from the Creator. Keep it, guard it, care for it, for it keeps men, guards men, cares for men. Destroy it, and man is destroyed."
[Cry the Beloved Country; 33]

On December 15th, 2010, it began to rain heavily for a couple of days. As a result, the flood displaced at least a couple thousands of people. About 1200 people have been housed in churches and community halls and many people began to volunteer to donate items such as: clothes, food, and whatever else they can to help out.

The flood has destroyed nearly everything that cannot withstand it. Volunteers are now donating items and it brings me joy to know that there are at least some good-hearted people who are willing to think besides themselves for a moment. When I was reading the article, thoughts ran across my mind, and one of them was, “What would happen if it was a bigger flood, and that flood destroyed all of Johannesburg and other cities?” Well, I'm going to be very thankful that none of that happened, because we do not need another devastating Haiti moment.
